We need gun control so that only responsible, well-trained, official people will have guns, like cops and soldiers. At least, that’s what the gun grabbers claim.
A man wanted for series of shootings, including two murders in Irvine and a fatal shooting of a Riverside police officer, was in San Diego this week and may still be in the county officials said.
The suspect is former Los Angeles Police Department officer and Navy Reservist Christopher Jordan Dorner, the man at the center of a statewide manhunt.
As of this posting, Mr. Dorner is still loose.
Don’t you feel all safe and cozy knowing that this murderous, unhinged whackjob is loose with guns — but at least he had training and a badge, right? And to keep you safe, you must remain unarmed.
Makes perfect sense, right?
Oh, but the rest of the well-trained, professional cops will keep us all safe, right?
Not so much:
Residents in the quiet Torrance cul-de-sac where Los Angeles police mistakenly fired on two women delivering newspapers reported hearing a barrage of gunfire and discovered bullets that pierced cars, trees, roofs and garage doors.
Because two women delivering newspapers look exactly like a lone male ex-cop on a killing spree. Right? RIGHT?
Somehow, I don’t think Piers Morgan will be wringing his hands, and scoffing at peons who dare to disagree with him for months on end over this particular news item.
And, as usual, Bastiat nailed it more than one hundred fifty years ago:
“If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?”
